If there was ever a bad time to score, Ollerton Town can claim that they found it on Saturday afternoon, as they went 1-0 up against unbeaten league leaders Dinnington Town, only to find themselves 3-1 down ten minutes later.
It was always going to be an incredibly tough test for Lee Cook's men, but they more than held their own for well over an hour in the game, before taking the lead through Adam Scott who capitalised on a defensive error.
That goal however seemed to poke the bear, and Dinnington struck back almost immediately, before eventually going two goals ahead, in a clear show of the strength which has seen them lead the way in the Central Midlands Premier Division North.
The first real opening of the game arrived in the 17th minute. Dinnington broke into space on the right of the area, but Ollerton's Sonny Bennett did brilliantly to recover and take the ball away from the feet of the visiting forward.
Seven minutes later and Dinnington had the ball in the back of the net, after a fantastic header, but the forward was in a clearly offside position.
On the half hour mark, Ollerton got into a dangerous position down the right hand side and sent the ball into the area, with Dinnington being forced to clear from just in front of their goal.
With five minutes to go before the break, Ollerton pressed forward again. A deep free kick was inches away from finding the foot of Captain Sam Stretton inside the area, before midfielder Anesu Muchegwa worked his way into the area and drilled the ball across goal, but the Dinnington 'keeper was out quickly to claim.
As both teams went into the break with the game goalless, it would have definitely been Ollerton who was the happier of the two sides.
Just before the hour, Dinnington had a chance to take the lead, but a headed opportunity from a corner was well over.
Ollerton then took the lead. A loose pass from the Dinnington defence was picked up by forward Adam Scott, and he progressed on goal before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
Two minutes later however, Dinnington struck back. From inside a crowded area, Cameron Evans drilled across goal and into the bottom corner from a tight angle.
In the 71st minute, Ollerton went forward in search of a second. Freddie Norris cut in from the right flank and drilled a shot low towards goal, which squirmed just wide of the target.
Dinnington then scored again to take the lead. Ollerton failed to properly deal with a long ball over the top, and the ball rolled free for Evans to score his second of the game.
With fifteen minutes to go, Dinnington got a third goal to seal the win. A cross in from the right found Cameron Jessop who headed home, past 'keeper Gareth Briggs.
